ITEC First Blog Post
Hey my name is Shatonya Bussey and I am an Early Childhood major taking curriculum at Georgia Southern University. I am currently doing my field experience at Stilson Elementary school under Mrs. Wanda Akins. The class I am observing is a first grade class in which I will meet for the first time tomorrow.

I am also at Stilson Elementary this semester but I am in a 3rd grade classroom. How do you like 1st grade so far? I was placed in a 1st grade classroom last semester and I liked it but it made me begin to wonder if I would rather teach older children (3rd,4th,5th). I am so glad that I was placed in a 3rd grade classroom this semester because it is helping me get an idea of what grade I am best suited for. I really hope that next semester I will be placed in a 5th grade class so I can get an idea about different grade levels, but if i'm not it won't be too big of a deal. When I graduate I will take any job that is offered so it's not like I have much say so right now anyways as to what grade I teach.
ReplyDeleteI went to Stilson last semester. I like Brooklet better. You are still at the easy stage of your program--just wait until Methods 1. I have to go to the schools everyday...I'm starting to run out of teacher clothes! lol I'm just ready for the semester to be over with, so that I can finally take a break from lesson plans!
ReplyDeleteI hope you love first grade. They stole my heart during my PPB. I originally wanted to teach third or fourth grade, but quickly changed my mind. They are so sweet and will always want to give you a hug. But you have to be careful or else they will hang all over you! Students change so much between each grade, its crazy! I hope you have a good time with your students and a great semester. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHey girl! I hope the first grade clas is going good for you this semester. I admire you because I would like to be in a first grade class this semester. They are my favorite. My mom teachers first graders and absolutely loves them! I am in a third grade class this semester and I love them as well but its just not the same as the little ones. Good luck with the semester!
ReplyDeleteI observed a first grade class and it was pretty fun. I hope you enjoy your class. I saw that you wanted to teach in Bibb, me too! Either that or Houston, whoever has jobs available at the time. Good luck this semester, curriculum is pretty easy.
